Helical Soil Nails Solution for Soil Retainage

A 40ft by 90 ft. addition with a full basement 14 feet below ground was planned east of the St. Michael's Lutheran Church sanctuary. Support of the existing east foundation wall and some method of soil retention was needed to prevent foundation soils from caving into the excavation. Sheet piling was considered for temporary support, but it was to expensive and couldn't be removed without potentially damaging the structure. Foundation Supportworks by Thrasher was contracted to provide 6 Model 288 Push Piers, 4 Helical Tiebacks, 2 Wailer beams and 8 Model 150 Helical Soil Nails for support.
