A new air terminal in Cairo aims to increase and better accommodate tourists. Egypt is famed for its pyramids and other ancient structures. The antiquities bring millions of tourists a year-and with them, millions in hard currency forming a major part of Egypts national income. Welcome to Cairo airports new terminal three, the terminal aims at increase tourism and commerce for the country. The new international terminal of three arrives just in time. Officials said Cairo had been in conflict to meet the needs of an already growing number of tourists every year. Soundbite (English) Ibrahim Manna, Chairman, Department of Civil Aviation: It 'was time to increase the capacity of our building, because we have reached capacity, we have a terminal and two terminals, the maximum capacity of nine and a half million euros, which we reached in that fourteen yearsmillion. Egypt built the new terminal under the countrys Airports Development Project-financed by the World Bank. The project also built a new airport in Egypts red sea resort town of Sharm al Sheik. The new Cairo terminal comprises a main building and two symmetrical concourses, or "piers," and totals 211000 square meters.
